MGM-16.
MGM-16 is a synthetic mitragynine analog structurally related to MGM-15. It has been detected in adulterated supplements. Published pharmacology is minimal.
What it is
MGM-16 is a synthetic analog of mitragynine, structurally related to MGM-15 with substituent differences. As with MGM-15, it is not a natural kratom alkaloid — it is produced in the laboratory.
Where it appears
Similar context to MGM-15: adulterated kratom-extract products, supplements misrepresented as botanicals (e.g. "Cat's Claw"), and occasionally labeled as an ingredient in "advanced" concentrated kratom-alkaloid products. FDA seizure and warning-letter actions have addressed both MGM-15 and MGM-16 in tandem.
Pharmacology in brief
Limited published data. Reports describe μ-opioid receptor activity with potency in the range of 7-OH and MGM-15. Independent peer-reviewed receptor-binding and signaling characterization is sparse as of mid-2026.
Safety concerns
Same risk pattern as MGM-15:
- Undisclosed adulteration in products not labeled as containing MGM-16
- Atypical drug-test profile — may not trigger standard opioid panels
- Additive risk with other CNS depressants
Lab testing
A full-panel HPLC test through /LabTest can identify MGM-16 in a product when properly configured. Ask the lab to include synthetic-analog screening.
Legal status
As with MGM-15: Federal Analogue Act exposure for human-consumption sales, varying state coverage. See /Legal.
