Frequently asked questions.

Short answers to the questions we get most. If yours isn't here, email hello@7oh.org.

What is 7OH.org?

An independent grassroots campaign to protect access to 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-OH) — the therapy more than a million Americans rely on for chronic pain and to stay off stronger opioids. We help those people be heard: contacting their representatives, boosting the national petition, and sharing their stories before the DEA's temporary ban can take effect as early as August 5, 2026. Start at the action checklist.

Who funds 7OH.org?

Nobody in the industry. We take no vendor, manufacturer, or trade-group money, and we are not a 501(c) nonprofit. 7OH.org previously operated as an independent price-comparison reference; that service is retired while access itself is under threat. More on the about page.

What is the DEA doing?

On July 1, 2026 the DEA filed notices of intent to temporarily schedule 7-OH above a small threshold. The order could take effect as early as about August 5, 2026 and would last two years, extendable by one. Temporary scheduling under 21 U.S.C. 811(h) skips the usual public comment process. Read the DEA's notice (Federal Register, Docket DEA-1570).

Can I still be heard?

Yes — just not through a federal comment docket. The DEA is using a temporary-scheduling shortcut under 21 U.S.C. 811(h) that skips the normal public comment process, so there is no open docket to file into. The way to be heard now is to contact your state and federal representatives, sign and boost the national petition, and share the campaign. Public pressure works: in 2016, more than 142,000 petition signatures and 23,000 comments made the DEA withdraw an identical ban. That is why acting through Congress and the petition matters now — the action checklist walks you through each step in about three minutes.

What is 7OH.org's position?

Regulate, don't ban. We support age limits, potency caps, third-party testing, and honest labeling. We oppose prohibition imposed before the science is finished and before the public has been heard.

What can I do right now?

Add your name at 7oh.org, then work the three-step action checklist: contact your state and federal representatives, boost the national petition, and pass it on. It walks you through each step in about three minutes.

Are 7-OH products legal?

It depends on the state, and the federal picture is changing: the DEA's proposed scheduling could take effect as early as about August 5, 2026. See the legal status page for the current state-by-state breakdown. Nothing on 7OH.org is legal advice.

Is this medical advice?

No. Nothing on this site is medical, legal, or harm-reduction advice. We cite research where we can; we don't tell you what to do with it. If you need help now, see GetHelp.

The ban can take effect as early as Aug 5.
